I'm finishing up my CCNA studies through the Networking Academy program, and our instructor for the second part of the class strongly recommended this little book to us. At first, I was dubious--it's a 330 page paperback, retailing for $30 in stores. But when I started having some trouble with VLANs, I caved, and am I glad! This is the meat of the information from the two (four, if you're in Academy) big, bulky, heavy Self-Study and Exam Certification guides. It doesn't replace those, but for ... Read More

I took some cisco network academy classes. This book is a great tool in remembering on the "how to do commands." You can also just go though the chapters and learn how to create vlans, configure routers, and other protocals. I used this book to practice on Packet Tracer(program from the cisco network academy class). This book gives brief explinations so you won't be an expert with just this thin book, but it will help you understand what you are doing in each step. It was easier going though with ... Read More

This is a very handy book to keep on a network admin's desk. Shows the format and meaning of many Cisco IOS commands for routers and switches. It could be better - like many Cisco Press books, it lacks an index. Other than that, it's a great book to have around.

This is awsome to have if you are network administrator or working on cisco devices as a portable reference on day to day basis. Also for your CCNA certification reviewer. I just love this on my frequent operation use.
This is recommended.
