I recently purchased this book as a reveiw before I take my Exam in the coming months. I have been studying about routers, switches, routing protocols and switching protocols for about a year now. This book covers much of what I already learned from taking formal courses through DeVry University. I am at the point in the book where it talks about CIDR and APIPA. great book. recommended by friends. easy reading and picturesque. although i'm only at the beginning, i'm sure the latter chapters will get more difficult. but for someone with NO knowledge, it's a good starter.

I am, right now, still in the middle of reading and studying for the Network + Exam, but I would recommend this book to anyone who is wanting to acquire this certification. I read his A+ study guide and passed that exam with flying colors.
What I like specifically is he separates history and concept info separate from the exam material. So you get a good overview of all concepts so that you better understand it. But because he does highlight the material that actually will be on the exam, ... Read More

First let me say I passed the test handily with this book being my primary resource so it served its purpose although I have had experience configuring and managing LAN/WAN's. I do have some suggestions for improvements:
The included CD is geared to Windows users. I could open the PDF image files of the book, but the utilities were useless and, more importantly, the practice tests nowhere to be found.
